On August 12th 2015 E.on has started officially with the construction of a modular battery storage system M5BAT on the campus of the university RWTH in Aachen, Germany. These types of storage systems are going to be an important element of the increase of renewable energies, because they are able to support the grid stability.

Swarm battery storage prequalified for primary energy regulation

On 20th July 2015 a group of small home storage systems for solar energy have been prequalified by TenneT TSO GmbH in coordination with all 4 German TSO to support the primary energy regulation for the grid stability. 65 energy storage systems (ESS) of the pilot project SWARM are therefore allowed to be part of the grid stability network in Germany.
