Since two weeks the high temperatures in finance center of Shanghai have increased the electricity demand due to air conditioning.

On Tuesday the 4th of August the temperatures have reached in Shanghai their annual summer peak levels. Since ten days the East Asian financial center is suffering from an extreme heat wave.  The local weather institute of Shanghai measured on Tuesday afternoon in the district of  Xujiahui in the south of the city the record temperature of 39.2 degree centigrade. The city is suffering of constant high temperatures. Since ten days the temperature has reached every day more than 35 degree centigrade. Therefore the need for cooling by air conditioning is very high.

In this case the peak load demand in the electricity grid of Shanghai has reached its year record: The peak load was 30.000 MW, of which 10.000 MW are from the cooling needs of the city with 30 Mio. inhabitants.
