The Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA), the German regulator of the power market, received 108 bids with a total capacity of 540 MW. In the end, 21 PV developers were assigned a total capacity of 128 MW. Companies such as Eon Energie Deutschland, IBC Solar, Pfalzsolar and Enerparc were amongst the successful bidders.

„Especially the possibility to hand in bids for projects on agricultural land in underprivileged areas, allowed for the reduction of the price level once again”, Jochen Homann, president of the BNetzA commented. Falling prices also indicate strong competition in the German PV market.

While during the first tender (pay-as-bid) of PV parks a surcharge of 8.48 Cent/kWh to 9.43 Cent/kWh could be realized, the tender rounds two and three, executed according to the uniform price principle, saw amounts of 8.49 Cent/kWh, respectively 8.00 Cent/kWh. Even though the volume-weighted average surcharge of the fourth round, again executed as pay-as-bid, fell to 7.41 Cent/kWh, the lowest price in this round was already 6.49 Cent/kWh. Thus, a lower threshold for prices has not been reached yet.
