According to BBC it will be located roughly 120 km off the East Yorkshire coast and is expected to be operational by 2020. The erection of the 174 turbines, each of them more than 190 metres high, will create 2000 jobs, while maintenance work adds an additional 300. The Danish company wants to use the biggest available turbines with 7MW capacity each and aims at powering well over one million homes in the UK.

The project will be the final stage of DONG Energy to deliver its strategic target of installing 6.5 GW offshore wind by 2020 and Brent Chesire, DONG Energy UK Country Chairman commented:

“To have the world’s biggest ever offshore wind farm located off the Yorkshire coast is hugely significant, and highlights the vital role offshore wind will play in the UK’s need for new low-carbon energy.”
