As the Bundesnetzagentur (The German regulatory body) said on Wednesday, the second trial tender for investments in free-standing solar panels received an average price of EUR 84.90/MWh, which is lower than payments were under its tariff system of  89.30 EUR/MWh. In addition, the bidding system has changed. In the first round, successful applicants were instead remunerated according to their bid. (Pay-as-bid).  This second round employed a system of uniform pricing, which pays all bidders the same rate as the last successful bid, as in the wholesale power market.( Market clearing price)

The tender is therefore considered a success. “The reaction of the bidders to the high competitive pressure in the first tender led to persistently lower bids. Now we have to see, how the specific projects are going to develop” Bundesnetzagentur president Jochen Homann said.

The next tender round will take place on the first of December 2015.
