On the Global Energy Interconnection (GEI) Conference from 30th to 31st of March 2016 in Beijing, Energy Brainpool, Tellhow Sci-Tech and the Chinese Association for Renewable Energy in Germany e.V. will present their joint White Paper. Tobias Kurth, managing director of Energy Brainpool will outline the idea of a globally interconnected market design for the power market.

The collaboration between Energy Brainpool, Tellhow Sci-Tech and the Chinese Association for Renewable Energy in Germany e.V. thus marks an important step for strengthening international cooperation between China and Germany in view of global energy market developments.

The White Paper sketches the positive aspects that emerged after the coupling of the European electricity markets and further adopts those to look into the possibilities of an international electricity market.

The experiences in Europe show, that so-called market coupling brings along gross welfare benefits, as well as a faster and better integration of renewable energies into the electricity system. A global order book, based on the principles of power exchange in Europe, is able to represent cross-border trade and thus also allow for a balancing of power generation and consumption.
